Clydebank. (1966-2002). joined the league in the 1966/67 season in their own right, after one season as E.S.Clydebank in 63/64. They made it to the top division on two occasions in 76/77 and from 84/85 to 86/87. They are also remembered as the club who introduced Davie Cooper, probably their most famous player to Scottish football. They left Kilbowie Park in 1996,

and ground shared with first Dumbarton, and latterly with Morton. The club was in administration with very little assets, when a bid by a Lanarkshire club formed after the demise of Airdrieonians was accepted. An attempt to buy the club by shareholders and supporters was unsuccessful, and the club passed into the hands of the rival bidder. The new owners dropped the club name, thus making Clydebank the second club of that name to drop out of the Scottish League, and took over the club's fixtures and place in the league as Airdrie  United.
