These three matches all occurred in a three month spell, in a season which culminated in promotion to the 1st Division, and with 87 goals scored in the league to boot.

The first of the matches saw local Angus rivals Brechin City put to the sword to the tune of 8-1. The scorers were Jack ( 15, 79 mins), Bruce ( 21, 42, 46, 57 mins), and Hughes ( 26, 28 mins). Tom Hughes hit a double against Brechin.

A month later East Fife visited Gayfield, and after taking a first minute lead through Borthwick, were hit by a barrage of goals from Kennedy ( 10, 37 mins), and Jack ( 18, 33 mins), which gave the lichties a 4-1 lead at half time. East Fife fought back after the break and goals from Kinsella ( 48 mins ) , and Borthwick ( 55 mins) brought the score to 4-3, but a Stirling penalty in 72 mins settled Arbroath, and Jack completed the scoring in 87 mins. Attendance 2374.

Allan Kennedy started the scoring against East Fife

The Arbroath goal machine roared into action again in November when Stenhousemuir paid a visit to Gayfield, and were completely overrun by a rampant lichties side. Scorers were Easton ( 8, 22, 45 pen.), Jack ( 29, 65), Bruce ( 34), Hughes ( 40), and Kennedy ( 60).  Attendance was 1701.

Arbroath also recorded a 4-0 win at home to Hamilton Accies, and a 5-1 success at Stranraer in what must have been one of the highest goal scoring period in the club's history.

The Arbroath team for all these matches was

Williamson, Cameron, Riddle, Cargill, Stirling, Peirson, Easton, Kennedy, Jack, Bruce, Hughes.

The only change was the incumbent of the subs bench, Welsh v Brechin City, Cant v East Fife, and Finnie v Stenhousemuir.
