The Scottish League.

from 1921/40.

Arbroath opened their career in the Scottish League with a home match against Johnstone. The Arbroath side that day was -

Jenkins, Law, Ferguson, Easson, Henderson, Stirling, Herron, Walker, Christie, Farquhar, Thomson.

The Maroons defeated their Renfrewshire opponents by 3-1, with goals from Christie, Stirling, and Farquhar.

  The club spent the next 14 seasons striving to reach the top league,

First goal against the Hi-Hi in a 3-1 win in October 1934

and succeeded in 34/35, ending as runners up to Third Lanark. 

The club spent the next five seasons in the top league, up to the outbreak of World War II.
